Donald Jacob was the husband of the deceased Colleen Jacob. He is the biological father of Jude Adams Foster and the step-father of Callie Jacob. He was introduced in the season 1 episode Consequently and made his debut appearance later in Escapes and Reversals.
He is portrayed by Jamie McShane.
Biography

Donald Jacob (aka Jamie McShane) is Jude's father and Callie's step-father, with both under the belief that he was also her biological father. He got drunk after a night out with his wife, Colleen Jacob, and drove the car they were in. As a result of driving while intoxicated, he caused a car accident that killed Colleen and other citizens in another vehicle. He was sentenced to jail on counts of manslaughter for the crime, effectively sending Jude and Callie into the foster system while he served his sentence.
He was released from jail over a year prior to Callie and Jude moving in with the Fosters. Callie, while on the run, calls the prison where her father was supposed to be living in during his sentence. She discovers the news about his release, leaving her hurt that he never came for her and Jude. In Adoption Day, it is revealed that on Callie's birth certificate, her father listed is not Donald, but a man named Robert Quinn, which delayed Callie's adoption. Despite being adopted, Jude wishes for Donald to continue being a part of his life, as seen in Father's Day when he invites Donald over for Father's Day brunch. Callie and Jude still consider Donald to be a parent to them even though he is no longer their guardian.

TriviaEdit
- Callie believed he didn't come for her and Jude after being released from prison because he didn't care what happened to them. However, he actually felt that he had no business trying to take care of them when he couldn't even take of care himself and wished to pull his act together before returning for them.
- Jude was given a pocket knife by Donald prior to Jude being sent into foster care as a single momento of his father. It was previously owned by Donald's father, with his initials carved into it.
- Donald officially terminates his parental rights to Callie and Jude in Don't Let Go, feeling a life with the Adams Fosters would be better than a life with him.
- Donald discovers that Jude is gay in Father's Day, when Adam Stevens publicly confronts Connor about coming out as gay to the school. Donald defends Connor, and indirectly Jude, to Adam, even getting him to see that a child being bullied by a parent is far worse than being bullied by anyone else in the public.
